Senior VP of Sales, then President · 2002–2004

Wanforce Technologies

From broadband services to telecommunications infrastructure — Peter's second act turned a St. Louis equipment company toward national and international ambitions.

After Phoenix Networks, Peter continued building businesses within the telecommunications industry.

By October 2002, Peter was serving as senior vice president of sales for Wanforce Technologies Corporation. By 2003, public announcements identified him as the company's president.

Wanforce was based in St. Louis and operated in the secondary telecommunications-equipment market. The company bought and sold new, used and professionally refurbished voice and data communications equipment.

Its product and technology focus included equipment from major telecommunications and networking manufacturers such as:

  • Cisco
  • Nortel
  • Lucent
  • Juniper
  • Foundry Networks
  • Ascend

Wanforce's business model helped companies reduce the cost of building, expanding or maintaining communications networks by providing tested equipment, installation options and warranties.

A National and International Expansion Plan

In October 2003, Wanforce announced an aggressive expansion plan under Peter's leadership. The company reported that it had reached approximately $20 million in annual revenue and planned to establish sales offices in 22 United States markets.

Planned international offices

  • Rio de Janeiro

  • Singapore

These announcements reflected Peter's ambition to turn a St. Louis telecommunications company into an international provider. Because the announced expansion came shortly before Peter's death, this archive records these locations as planned offices, not completed offices.

Creating Complete Customer Solutions

Wanforce also developed bundled telecommunications offerings designed to reduce the cost of adopting new voice and data services.

In 2003, the company announced that it would provide qualifying customers with hardware and installation in connection with voice and data service orders involving providers such as:

  • Sprint
  • MCI
  • Qwest
  • SAVVIS
  • New Edge Networks

Peter described the offer as a way for customers to combine competitively priced carrier services with the equipment and installation needed to operate them. Wanforce stated that it tested equipment before shipment and offered warranty coverage.

This was consistent with Peter's broader business philosophy: do not merely sell a piece of hardware or a connection — solve the customer's complete problem.
